Dear Parent/Guardian & Volunteer
With the new legislation, regarding Booster Seats, we have put together the follow guidelines for parents and volunteers
Any parent or volunteer who carries other people’s children has a legal duty to ensure they carry them safely.
Every year around 25 children under 12 years old are killed and 8,000 injured while travelling in cars in Great Britain. Many of these deaths and injuries can be prevented if children travel appropriate child restrains such as booster seats or cushions that are suitable for their size and weight, suitable for the car and are securely fitted.
Parents or volunteers who carry other people’s children, 13 years and under and/or under 1.35 metres tall, in cars must make sure they provide or are provided with (by the child’s parent/guardian), appropriate child restraints, including booster seats or cushions, for each child carried.
It is the driver’s legal responsibility to ensure that the child is correctly restrained.
For children over the age of 14 years old, an adult seat must be worn whether travelling in the front or rear seat.
